Travel Insurance
If you plan to travel within in Australia or overseas, you can insure yourself against things that can happen on a holiday.
If you are an international student, ensure you get travel insurance to visit another country (ie. Bali for a week) while on a student visa, as your Overseas Student Health Cover will not cover you should anything happen.
What does a good travel insurance policy include?
- Theft and loss of property
- Medical expenses caused by illness or injury while you are away
- Personal liability and legal expenses (in case you accidentally damage someone else’s property or cause an injury to another person)
- Cover for travel delay or cancellation (this can cover the loss of any travel or accommodation that has been pre-paid if your flight is cancelled or delayed)
- Emergency travel expenses and accommodation
- Cancellation of the trip (this can cover your expenses, the cost of the travel and accommodation that you have pre-paid, if you have to cancel due to an emergency)
Travel insurance is sometimes included with certain credit cards. However, as always, make sure you read the fine print (details), and are confident you have sufficient cover for your needs.
